Dr Jessica Featherston is currently only taking on new patients for Orofacial Myology. There will be no availability for new general Osteopathic patients. All patients that have previously attended the clinic will still be able to book in for an Osteopathic hands-on appointment.

What is Orofacial Myology?


  • Orofacial myology is the study of the Oral and Facial muscles in relation to their movement and function for daily life. The muscles of the face, lips, tongue and the jaw should move in a way that supports healthy breathing, eating, speaking and swallowing. Poor movement patterns are collectively known as Myofunctional Disorders and can be treated using Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT). OMT uses exercise based training to help retrain these muscles, allowing for better function.

Dr Jessica Featherston studied Osteopathy at Victoria University, Melbourne. She completed her Bachelor of Clinical Science in 2003 and a Masters of Health Science (Osteopathy) in 2005.
In 2007 Jessica relocated from Melbourne to the Sunshine Coast. In 2010 Jessica opened Bodyworks Osteopathy in Maroochydore and in July 2016 Bodyworks Osteopathy relocated to a home based clinic in Golden Beach. After practicing Osteopathy for over 20 years Dr Jessica Featherston decided to focus her studies on treating the Oral and Facial muscles. Jessica became an Orofacial myologist through her studies at the Australian Academy of Orofacial Myology.
Jessica still enjoys treating a wide range of patients from children to the elderly, and adapts her approach to suit each individual.

Your Osteopathic Orofacial Myology treatment may be eligible for Health Fund Rebates and our clinic has HICAPS facilities Dr Featherston (Osteopath) is registered with Veterans Affairs
In Australia, Osteopaths are statutorily registered practitioners with five years of full-time university training covering anatomy, physiology, pathology and general medical diagnosis along with Osteopathic techniques. Osteopaths can complete further training in Orofacial Myology.
